Accident Support Services International Ltd. CROMS Wins Insurance Canada Technology Award (ICTA)

Steve Sanderson, President of Accident Support Services International Ltd. (ASSI) is proud to announce that our Collision Reporting and Occurrence Management System CROMS won the prestigious Insurance Canada Technology Award for 2013 as Supplier of the year.

Established in 2010, the ICTA awards celebrate organizations in the Canadian Insurance industry whose implementation and use of technology demonstrates a significant impact on a process or group of processes used in the sale, processing and service of insurance in Canada. Rather than just looking at software, the ICTA considers how the technology is used by the companies and the advantages it gives them. “Technology is certainly an enabler,” says Mr. Sanderson. “It allows us to work much smarter and it also allows us to become much more efficient and make the right decisions.” “Our company would not have been able to survive had it not been for our investment in technology.”

CROMS is used by both Police and Insurers in Ontario and Alberta through real time access via secure web portals and is available from the moment it is entered into CROMS. “Not only does CROMS record all 266 data fields of the provincial collision forms, but it also includes damaged vehicle photographs, and supplementary information such as passenger information and statement.” The success of CROMS was brought about by heavy stakeholder involvement and feedback by both insurers and police resulting in their complete support and buy-in for CROMS. “The information is captured once; the information is accurate and it’s consistent and it is shared with all stakeholders.” CROMS can communicate with any other technology of system via XML data transfer. This has resulted in CROMS populating the Ministry of Transportation Ontario data base and also populating Police Records Management Systems through highly secure data transfers. “We can populate directly into the insurer’s claims systems to create a first notice of loss electronically and save the insurer the administrative time and costs of re-entering the same information we just captured. We already successfully do this for a number of insurers and would be pleased to do it for more.”

Accident Support Services International Ltd. would like to thank all of our Police and Insurance partners for the time and effort that they have put into helping us to create this information system that can be used by all Collision Reporting Stakeholders. We would also like to thank Insurance-Canada.ca for sponsoring the ICTA awards and for this recognition of our work.
