Niagara Falls Collision Reporting Center Open!
Accident Support Services International Ltd. is pleased to announce the opening of our second CRC in partnership with the Niagara Regional Police Service.
On May 20, the Niagara Falls Collision Reporting Center opened to receive reports from drivers involved in minor collisions. The Center is located at 4343 Morrison Street in Niagara Falls. ASSI President Steve Sanderson advised, “If you have a collision in Niagara Falls, and it doesn’t involve bodily injury, criminal activity or the hauling of hazardous waste, when you call 911 the operator will tell you to exchange information with the other party and then come to the center.”
This frees up officers in Niagara Region to attend higher priority calls for service, removes the accident reporting from the side of the road to the safety of the CRC, possibly preventing secondary collisions. Staff at the CRC will assist the citizen with their accident report, photograph the vehicle damage, place a “Damage Reported to Police” sticker on the vehicle, offer the driver the use of a telephone to contact their insurance company or family, and provide the driver with a handout from their own insurance company listing next steps. Collision data, including photographs, are sent to the driver’s insurance company, with the driver’s approval. This allows insurers to quickly open a claim and provide assistance to their insured, enhancing the customer service experience.
Collision data is also provided to the Police Service. Police and municipalities have access to data from their communities through an Analytics Portal that they can utilize to develop collision prevention initiatives, making the roadways safer for everyone. There is no cost to Police or the public for these services. Funding is provided by the insurance industry.
